Weather_message

Inspiration

We were inspired with the fact that not many people really look at the weather before they head out. Usually you wake up get dressed and then decide to get a jacket after you already walked out the door.

What it does

This grabs data based of a City and then sends the user a text message from an email stating what the weather is.

How we built it

We used openweather to grab the data for the different cities. Also used a email to text system to text the user.

Challenges we ran into

Trying to figure out how to send sms to users. Tried using different API to figure out which they didnt work. the apis we tried to use was googlevoice, whatsapp, and some other services which would take about 5 weeks to get approved to use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Figuring out how to pull from APIs and also figuring out the email to sms function.

How APIs work and how to program email to sms.

What's next for Weather_message

We would like to implement a user interface to allow changes to cities and hourly updates. Also would like to have server hosting so that the program is always running and automatically send a message at times selected by the user.
