In video games, when a character moves from place to place, the background music changes to reflect the character's surroundings. We were inspired to bring this to real life.
What it does
Our website takes the user's IP location to get real time weather stats that feed into our Python program as parameters for our ambient music generator. To make things more interesting, a user can input any city from around the world to hear music generated from the weather stats of that city.
How we built it
We used two APIs to retrieve real time weather data and the Python library pyknon to play around with different synthesizer sounds.
Challenges we ran into
We couldn't verify the domain that we registered and we ran into unresolvable gateway errors :(
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to use Python to create some sick beats.
What we learned
How to use the Google Cloud App Engine, how to use APIs, and how frustrating gateway errors can be.
What's next for Weather Vibes
We'd like to fix the gateway errors.
