Inspiration
The inspiration for Defeat Messie was my messy room. I always struggled with keeping my room clean, as well as keeping track of important items such as my ID card, wallet, phone, and more. Moving into the cramped college dorm, my messiness has gotten a lot worse, and since I have a roommate, I knew I had to fix this bad habit, which led me to come up with Defeat Messie
What it does
Defeat Messie is an app that encourages users to keep their room clean and put important items back in the same place using gamification. A user can rate an area of their room's messiness level, or keep track of whether they left certain items where they belong. Through this information, the user gets a certain amount of points, Messie (the antagonist monster) gets a certain amount of points, and the user and Messie use their points to attack and defeat each other.
How we built it
I wrote down and presented my ideas in Google Slides, and then mapped out the entity structure in Figma.
Challenges we ran into
I never properly used Figma before, and since I know nothing about design, it was a little tough.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I came up with this idea; I was really struggling to come up with what project to create for this hackathon.
What we learned
Something I learned was that not all projects have to be large scale, and that I can come up with project ideas that are small enough for me to accomplish.
What's next for Defeat Messie
The next step would be to write out how points are determined through the messiness score or the keyItem putBack score as well as how much the user's attack and health should increase by for every level increase. The step after that would be to actually make Defeat Messie either into a mobile or web app. Another thing I would like to do for Defeat Messie in the future is to come up with more features for the battle mode so the game does not get stale.
