Weather Mood

Inspiration:

The daily weather affects the mood of all of us. Some love sunny weather, while others love rainy. We made it fun with cartoon-style backgrounds and animations created in a more dramatic way.

What it does:

Lens captures the daily weather information of the user's location via API and displays a cartoon-style mood, background, and animations for them.

How we built it:

First, we adjusted the mechanism by which the lens detects the weather from the location information of the users, then we designed special background images and animations for these different weather conditions. We created effects such as rain and snow with the particle system. We have set up another mechanism where the user can change it with a tap in case they don't want to share their location or want to see other weather moods.

Challenges we ran into:

We spent time optimizing to fit multiple animations, particle systems, effects, and multiple SFX into the same lens.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We achieved an impressive and dramatic lens design. Also, we encourage users to try the lens every day to see the weather moods specific to that day.

What we learned:

Along with the details of the particle system, we learned how to optimize to fit multiple assets to the lens. At the same time, we managed to create a mechanism in that we can pull weather information from the user's location.
