Inspiration I'm primarily a backend developer, but I've always been curious about coding beyond that scope. I enjoy learning new languages, and when this challenge came up, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone.

What it does The app collects the user's city and country, then uses an external API to retrieve geographic coordinates. With those coordinates, it fetches current weather data such as temperature, humidity, and conditions all displayed directly inside Jira.

How we built it We used Atlassian Forge and Jira tools, combining them with external API integration to deliver real-time weather data in a dashboard gadget.

Challenges we ran into At one point, I accidentally broke the code and had to restart. Since this was a new language and framework for me, I wasn't sure how to efficiently troubleshoot the issue. It was a tough but valuable learning moment.

Accomplishments we're proud of I started this project as a complete novice in Forge and UI development. Pushing through the unfamiliarity and actually building something that works and integrates cleanly into Jira felt like a major win.

What we learned I learned how to use the command line more effectively, and also gained a deeper appreciation for GUI development it’s more complex and nuanced than it first appears.
