Weather Discord Bot (krusherbot)

Inspiration

Every time my teacher gives me a 15 page essay, I always think of resorting to ChatGPT. But then, I had a thought. Why don’t I make my own ChatGPT through a platform that everyone knows: Discord!

What it does

My bot is the virtual bot which can collaborate with each of the users and respond accordingly to their conversation in the Discord Server.

How we built it

For now, I created a bot called “krusherbot” and made it interactable using python programming. Users who have added “krusherbot” can get the weather information for their desired place. To get the weather, type “weather ”. The weather will be given in Celsius.

Challenges we ran into

As this was a web-based application, the program should be live the whole time. If the internet slows down a bit, the running program will get terminated and it can stop the discord bot from running.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Any Discord Server Admins can add this bot (krusherbot) to their Discord Server and everyone in that server could be able to access it. As long as I have the program running on my computer, any group with my bot can be able to interact with it.

What we learned

I learned how to create an interactive conversation with a discord bot and user on a discord server.

What's next for Weather Discord Bot (krusherbot)

The Discord Bot I have made as of now has features to find the weather. The bot I have made can be used by anyone by them simply adding it to their server. In the future, I can add more features that can make the Discord Bot more interactable and make the user feel as if they are in a real conversation. I can achieve this through the chatterbot library (Open Source).
