Inspiration
We-Together was inspired by our desire to make talking about your emotions and feelings mainstream. Bringing a sense of togetherness and belongingness through a community that you can be a part of.
What it does
We Together is a community platform where people can join specific community of their choice and vent out their emotional burdens. We Together let’s you talk it out through the voice module and read about similar stuff on the blogs written by the community.
How we built it
The initial design inspiration was taken from Dribble and then we made our own design in figma , with separate components. The software was built using frameworks such as ReactJs, NodeJs, MongoDB, Web RTC sessions, and Google Auth. We also used Github for code collaboration with our team.
Challenges we ran into
We faced multiple bug-related issues during the development phase , some challenges we ran into included unnecessary borders around buttons. Another major challenge we face was in authentication of the login page. Teamwork and Google helped a lot in getting ahead in these challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to create a mvp of our web app with multiple features like blog posts , user authentication and the main dashboard feature with a voice module and blog posts , which was a great addition to the app. Using Google Auth was also a great idea, as we were able to fix our authentication issue and at the same time more user friendly. We are proud that we are able to build a product that could impact many people’s lives and give people power ot talk more about their feelings.
What we learned
We learned that hackathons are a great experience, and a great way to share your skill, develop your passion for coding, and grow your skill. This was our entire team's first hackathon, and I'm sure that we will attend many more, if it's in the same team or alone. Additionally, persistence and working through this challenge were additional skills that definitely made an impact
What's next for We Together
We look forward to improving the GUI of the application, diversifying the amount of animations we use. We are also planning to add a video functionality which will truly change how we experience the app.
