We the Change

Inspiration

Our film is inspired by human rights activists from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the United States. They share ideas that we all need to hear, today more than ever before. It is also inspired by street art from each region,bringing their stories to life through visual poetry that moves across the walls that divide us.

What it does

The film is a call for solidarity and unity and optimism in a time of great division and uncertainty. We believe there is a future where we the people can be the change we want to see. This film invites us all to rise to that moment.

How we built it

The film started as interviews with four human rights activists which became the narrative structure and we used Eleven Labs for the narration. Each scene was then rendered with Midjourney and animated with Runway, Kling AI and Google Veo. We used Adobe After Effects for finishing and Final Cut Pro for editing, with several musical tracks licensed from Lickd.

Challenges we ran into

The topic we explored is a sensitive subject and the activists were sometimes concerned about safety. Also, it is quite cost prohibitive to travel to Sudan and Bangladesh. Generative AI tools were the ideal solution, allowing us to capture the story of each person and the spirit of each location without incuring political or financial cost. Collaborating across four directors also required creative rhythm and trust.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We truly believe in the message behind this film and we're proud to have contributed in some small way to justice, compassion and human rights. We're also quite proud that the focus of the film is the story not the technology. AI is a powerful creative tool but the film is a powerful human truth.

What we learned

Large political organizations require a lot of lead time for partnership and collaboration. We were honored to work with the people that made this film possible but it certainly took time to navigate it all.

What's next for We the Change

Art is a powerful catalyst for change. We're excited to continue our exploration with music, film, literature and more as our next subject, like street art was the focus in this film.
