Inspiration

The Covid-19 Crisis made people worrying about the future and current conditions in tourism Industry so we need to create an easy system to support guests on quarantine. Greece so far consider to be a safe country and there are still visitors willing to fly to Greek islands.

What it does

The tourism industry needs to be adjusted and combined with the new rules and regulations. The Covid Tour Guide helps tourists connecting with local individuals in order to provide them with all the necessary goods to support the 14 day quarantine during the lockdowns or ask for specific help through the local authorities.

How I built it

Deploying technologies such as a web-site, social media accounts data, geo data and a mobile app.

Find team partners to collaborate and built the app.

Set up a web-site, built a working application and manage to submit on time.

1) The problem your project solves

In the face of the COVID-19 crisis and the concern and uncertainty about the economic future of the hotel industry, it is necessary to create a system to create an easy system to support quarantined guests, providing services necessary to maintain their security during the pandemic. Greece is so far considered a safe country and there are still visitors willing to fly to the Greek islands. There is a problem arising after the governments announcements about actions that will make future tourists willing to travel safe to the Greek islands. There is a need to help quarantined tourists connect with the local society and obtain the every day goods to support living

2) The solution you bring to the table (including technical details, architecture, tools used)

The solution is to create an application where the guest can easily access and be able to obtain the services they need. Each one will be asked the health protocol questions to find out who has symptoms and to isolate them to avoid massive infections. The app is built completely using open source technology. We decided to use Glibe as our tools to create easy and fast our app.

The app is easy to obtain from a website for ios and android

b) Architecture Easy to use through simple buttons,visual material, contact form, ability to connect to local individuals and/or public services fast, ability to buy everyday goods through a simple card.

3) What you have done during the weekend

During the weekend, we first looked for people to work collaboratively as a team, search for information and find solutions to the problem. We asked mentors for some advice to continue working.

4) The solution’s impact to the crisis

Coronavirus is already a global problem, it is here to stay for a while.The impact on the world's economies has been very serious, and the tourism industry also suffers from it, so we must work on strategies that help mitigate this crisis.People will be afraid to travel for a while but then when they see that there is adequate security they will be able to do it normally again. This will be like when the 9/11 attacks occurred, people did not dare to travel, but when they see that there is strong security, everything changes.

5) The necessities in order to continue the project

There is no doubt that the coronavirus is already a global problem, which has similarly hit the world and has only one solution – cooperation - collaboration

6) The value of your solution(s) after the crisis

To continue the project we will need to look for long-term strategies for cooperation. We must seek government help to foster the tourism industry and think of new sustainable tourist attractions.
