We're Not That Different is a political survey platform to analyze ideological conflicts. The application scrapes local news sources and applies sentiment analysis to find emotionally-charged keywords existing in political leaders’ speeches. Using the Democracy 2.1 voting paradigm, the application allows users to vote on these issues most important to them and then displays the distributions of voting patterns in aggregate. By filtering the data by demographics, our application suggests that differences in opinion are moderated by these covariates rather than ideological differences.
