Inspiration
We organized a thing because we thought it would be fun! (AND IT WAS!)
What it does
We organized UBCHacks' Local hack Day in Vancouver! We hosted 2 workshops (Microsoft – Azure && AMS Game Development Association – Git ), served food & lots of swag to over 160 students and receive sponsorships from over 20 companies and organizations!
How we built it
With dedication and a passion for hackathons.
Challenges we ran into
Had to plan everything in under 2 months.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
WE DID IT! It was an amazing experience and everyone had fun!
What we learned
- FUN FACT: When 250 students register for an event, only 165 will show up.
- People don't like it when you cut muffins up into 4 pieces each and will instead take 2 whole muffins.
- Zeno's Achilles and the Tortoise Paradox is indeed true- continuously half-ing a block of cream cheese does not result in an infinite block of cream cheese but rather, in complaining students. (They got over it because we ordered pizza right after)
- How to talk on a phone without sounding like an awkward potato.
What's next for We organized a thing!
We'll organize a thing next year.
