Inspiration

The project theme, 'Timeless Moments Awaits', means the past, present, future- all in one place. When we thought about that, the idea of our classes came about, and how nice it would be to have help from past students, for our current and future courses. Thus came the idea of UTDiscussions

What it does

Targeted towards UTD students, this 24/7 website is designed to be the online peer tutoring and general questions forum. Using past resources and questions to provide answers and feedback organized by specific threads and subthreads, further categorized by tags. Additionally, anyone can respond to give support in the forums. The goal is to push students to success, connect through the tutor-peer and peer-peer relationships, and deliver the go-to source of academic support.

How we built it

Using Figma to get the design and functioning prototype, we generated basic backend code from it to then hold user information (making a database) and have interactable buttons that can take you to different pages

Challenges we ran into

Design ideas (layout and coloration), and creating/integrating backend code with the front end (html learning curve)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That we did it lol.

What we learned

Backend coding is harder than we anticipated, and it was much more time consuming than we initially projected

What's next UTDiscussions

Growing the database of users to where there will be enough information in place for users to more than likely have an answer for a question they have (someone having asked before in the past).
