Inspiration
Once we decided which of the prompts we wanted to tackle, we began our research by conducting 5 user interviews with the aim to understand travelers pain points. We quickly identified the frustrations around group travel, how difficult it was to keep track of all relevant information - how much more difficult it became when more people were involved. And most importantly: how a well planned trip was key to a positive travel experience.
What it does
WeGo is an App that helps users plan group trips, thinking of every detail - so they don’t have to. It includes the ability to share itineraries, vote (on dates, destination, attractions, restaurants), settle expenses incurred during the trip, share pictures and keep everything organized - so everyone can access the information and most importantly, everyone can help plan!
How we built it
We started off with user and market research (interviewed people on their traveling pain points, brainstormed possible solutions, and did a competitive analysis), we moved on to sketching and designing pretty quickly given the time constraints - from then on it was a lot of designing whilst another team member worked on user journeys, persona, wireflows - we came together at the end to prototype and test and finally create our presentation.
Challenges we ran into
We lost a team-member the first day of the designathon. It was challenging to redistribute work assigned and re-evaluate how we were going to complete the challenge between 3 people rather than 4.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Actually finishing on time - especially with one member down
- The UI and creativity we created
What we learned
- Timeboxing was key for us. At the beginning we were taking a little longer in doing things and slowly realized that if we didn't timebox, we were not going to finish
- Everyone should work with their strengths, rather than trying to do everything at the same time
- Communication was so important for us to be able to move forward
What's next for We go (around the world with you)
Take it with us around the world - and hopefully, take others along with it!
