Inspiration

The pressing matter of movements such as the "Stop Asian Hate" movement, as well as the lived experiences of some of our group members, inspired us to center our work around this current matter in a way that allowed us to become more hands on with this issue as well as showcase it.

What it does

Our project is a collective of resources for the convenience of those viewing it as well as an overall space for spreading awareness about this issue.

How we built it

Through resources such as the w3schools website, online tutorials, and Atomhacks workshops, we were able to build a website using HTML, and some CSS for design purposes. We branched into a group working on research and a group working moreso on design, through there was a lot of overlap as we continued updating the website wherever we felt necessary.

Challenges we ran into

Designing the website as a significant challenge, especially when considering custom fonts and finding the right margins for our website. As beginners, it was also really hard looking through the blocks of code that the project presented us with, especially with cases where there were singular extra or missing characters in our code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Embeds and custom fonts were definitely key to adding a unique flair to our website, and we were able to do this through separating our work and looking for the right resources online to really help us add a personal touch to our website.

What we learned

We started as complete beginners and were able to learn valuable skills in not only developing a website, but making it look nice and inputting things to make the website more informative!

What's next for "we are not a virus"

Expanding into a more diverse network of resources to encompass more issues within the community. There is never not a need to include more resources and to include more stories, and expanding these would be good steps moving forward.
