💡 Inspiration

We wanted to make a website that literally shows prominent womxn and non-binary folx in tech, around the world.
Visibility (or lack thereof) is a major hurdle in entering the industry, and we wanted to push gender equity and inclusion by shining a light on the influential creators in the tech space. Literally proclaiming that We Are In Tech

🏃‍♀️ What it does

👷‍♀️ How we built it

We registered a domain with Domain.com, and then hosted an interactive map using Google Cloud Platform's free Firebase Spark Plan. Using vue, we built a simple webpage with a webGL/3js map.

🚧 Challenges we ran into

We were unable successfully register a linode account, and unfortunately, only hackers in the NA and EU region were applicable for the GCP credits. Nevertheless, we pulled through with an incredibly feature-complete Firebase Spark Plan, which offers incredible functionality.

Additionally, while we wanted to equitably shine a light on womxn and non-binary folx, we also had to be mindful not to expose any creators to unwanted harassment. As a result, we privately contacted creators if they would consent to being featured on our website. Understandably, given the short hackathon time frame, we were not able to hear back.
