Inspiration

I thought of this idea as I used to visit Chicago a lot and every time, we went we had a hard time finding a bathroom. Most were closed especially after certain times and the rest were unusable.

What it does

My app WayPoint locates the nearest bathroom to you allowing you and other users to rate the bathrooms and mark whether or not they meet certain criteria. This app allows you to filter by: -Rating -If you have to pay -key requirement -Gender neutral option -Wheelchair accessible -Single Occupancy -Changing Table -Distance from current location

How we built it

I used Figma and Googles Material 3 Design Kit built into Figma to design my prototype it as I have little knowledge of front end.

Challenges we ran into

As stated previously I do not know front end and I struggled at first to find an application that I could use to make this app. I have also never used Figma before, so I had to learn to navigate. As Figma was only building a prototype there were limitations as to what I could do. I wanted to implement an interactive map, but Figma's capabilities are limited so that was not possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud at myself for attempting a project as this is my first hackathon. I grew overall from this experience and know more front end.

What we learned

Before I discovered Figma I tried to teach myself the basics of HTML and CSS to be able to code the front end, so I learned from that. I also learned how to use Figma and Googles Design Kit.

What's next for WayPoint

I would like to keep developing this app and finish it. I would like to add more features and maybe have it launch on the App Store.
