Inspiration a movie
After watching all the back to the future movies in preparation for this hackathon we thought it would be great if we really could go back in time and talk to people from the past. So this project aims to let you time travel and lets the user have natural conversations with historical figures.
We wanted the user to be immersed in their interaction so we wanted to get a gui working that we made 3d in blender, and all the errors are themed as if its an actual time machine to help tell the story.
What does it do brings a historical figure to life
Our program starts by asking the user for a "target" to time travel to. After getting the name the program generates the personality and selects an appropriate voice. We also use the llm to check if the target is real and to determine the voice needed for the person. We then use the chat bot to generate text that is made into speech for natural conversation.
How we built it
We used VS code as our IDE, Github as our repo and groq as our main model service. We also used Deepgram to generate the voice and a web scraper to get the targets face.
Challenges we ran into
Using so many services we ran into many issues integrating them into one program, and being new to web development dealing with the API structures was a new challenge that we over came as a team.
Accomplishments that we're proud of everything else
We are proud of how fast the reposes are, how we were able to use the LLM for reasoning about the person and selecting options from the other services.
What we learned we dislike
We disliked not being able to local host the models but due to their size that is not reasonable.
