Inspiration
People getting in our personal space while doing groceries. Nobody willingly infects other people by getting into their space, but it's difficult to change your regular distancing behavior learned over a lifetime.
What it does
Sounds an alert if users get too close to each other (1.5 meters in The Netherlands, but can be configured.)
How we built it
Distance detection algorithm built in python and then converted to NodeJS and then converted to React-Native to run on mobile (both iOS and Android friendly).
Challenges I ran into
Bluetooth isn't accurate enough, so we had to find a more accurate method.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
My team.
What I learned
Python is really not suitable for mobile development and Javascript is really not suitable for artificial intelligence.
What's next for WavyBubble
Launching with test users, Radboud University Medical Center in the Netherlands has asked us to become their pilot.
