wavRider is an automatic 2D sidescrolling game, where obstacles are generated by analyzing the beats, intensity and pitch of a user-selected song, which plays throughout the game.
This project was built on the goal of making music more interactive. Users are frequently drawn to visualizations in media players and dancing fountains in amusement parks, where there is motion associated to the beats and rhythms of music. Thus, we wish to create an environment where music lovers and gamers can come together.
Our game's strength is in its use of audio processing libraries to extract features from user-inputted music to automatically generate obstacles based on the intensity, tempo, pitch of certain frame segments.
