Inspiration
WattWise AI was inspired by a simple problem: many households know their electricity bills are increasing, but they don't know exactly why or what they can do about it. I wanted to build a platform that makes energy consumption easier to understand and helps people make smarter decisions about electricity usage.
What it does
WattWise AI combines an interactive dashboard with an AI-powered energy assistant. It provides appliance-level consumption insights, detects unusual usage patterns, estimates electricity bills, and offers practical energy-saving recommendations. The assistant can use backend tools to analyze readings and explain changes in consumption.
How I built it
I developed the frontend using React and the backend using Python Flask, with SQLite for storing energy readings. I also implemented backend tools for analyzing consumption, comparing usage across periods, and identifying anomalies. The interface brings these features together in a single, easy-to-use experience.
Challenges I faced
One of the main challenges was connecting the dashboard, energy calculations, and AI assistant so they could work together consistently. I also worked on handling usage data reliably, testing backend functionality, and designing an interface that presents technical information in a simple way.
What I learned
Building WattWise AI helped me strengthen my skills in full-stack development, API integration, data analysis, and testing. It also taught me that a useful AI application needs more than a conversational interface: its responses should be grounded in reliable data and provide practical value to users.
What's next
I aim to strengthen the cloud AI integration and further improve the accuracy and personalization of energy insights. My goal is to make WattWise AI a practical tool that helps households understand their consumption, reduce avoidable electricity waste, and make more informed energy decisions.
