Inspiration

Started with a conversation about easy, simple ways to reduce energy consumption while making the idea attractive to the normal consumer, whose more interested in saving money than the environment. As part of the energy and environment track, we set out to solve this problem by creating a product that allows users to save money and the environment at the same time.

What it does

Use Watt to save money and lower energy consumption for household appliances. Plug in some numbers, including household and appliance information, and we'll crunch the data. Within seconds, see how much you can save. We'll let you know if you should replace your household appliances, including AC units, heater units, microwaves, dishwashers, and more. Just let us know where you live, how many people live in your house, how long you plan to live there, how big your house is, and the models of each of your appliances.

How we built it

Rover is built using several energy and environment datasets for cost and usage aggregated for the consumer. We're running on Flask for Python.

What's next for Watt

The model is basic, meaning that there are several next steps we need to take in our model. Many of the variables and conditions were simplified for the purpose of the hackathon.
