WATfridge

Effectively maximizing the content of your fridge

Is that thing at the back of your fridge growing unidentified things??

Presenting WATfridge, a food tracking tool built with Java on Android Studio. Our main goal is to reduce food waste, as well as maximize the use of the food inside the fridges of students at uWaterloo. WATfridge takes in inputted food, calculates their respective expected life expectancy, and reminds the user when the food is about to expire so that it could be consumed before then. Ultimately, this not only reduces food waste, but also allows poor students to save money as well.

User input is minimized by saving user-personalized staple foods, to improve user experience. For future improvements, we plan to incorporate computer vision to be able to automatically detect foods from receipts and images.
