My Journey Creating a Water Footprint Game
As a lover of both computer science and environmental science, I was inspired to create a project that combined the two fields. I wanted to create an educational game that would teach players about the concept of water footprint and how it relates to our food choices.
During my research on the topic, I learned that agriculture accounts for 70% of the world's freshwater consumption. This statistic shocked me and made me realize the importance of raising awareness about water usage in food production.
I built my project using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I used JavaScript to create a simple game where players have to guess whether a certain food item has a higher or lower water footprint than a randomly chosen food item. I also included educational information about water usage for each food item to help players learn.
One of the challenges I faced was gathering accurate data on water usage for different foods. There was a lot of conflicting information online, and it took some time to find reliable sources.
Overall, creating this project was a rewarding experience that allowed me to combine my passions for computer science and environmental science. I hope that this game will inspire others to make more sustainable food choices and help raise awareness about the impact of agriculture on our freshwater resources.
