Inspiration

What it doesInstead of requiring citizens to try and locate water quality tests, which can be offered either on a city, county, or state's website, this webapp would allow community members to enter an address and see in which jurisdiction their water supply lies. While many internet-based water testing agencies utilize zip-code, the address-based approach will allow us to more accurately check their specific provider's water. This would effectively end the confusing process of searching multiple government websites in an attempt to secure a water quality test.

In addition to directing constituents to where they can order a water test, it would also use their derived water supplier and evaluate the most recent test against both EPA and EWG standards to determine any dangers in their drinking water. If the water is deemed undrinkable, the app will then offer the user the ability to order a water test and direct them to the nearest source of actually potable water. By using a primarily graphics-based GUI, this app would allow Non-English speakers to find more effectively gain access to clean water without having to navigate through often confusing municipal websites.
