Inspiration

We were inspired to create this project after we realized that a lot of people find the water bottle filling stations at our school inefficient because they don't automatically stop releasing water in time for the bottle to fill itself without overflowing.

What it does

Our project pitch is a new sensor tracking device for water bottle refill stations. With the water bottle filler stations that we have today, you have to manually pull your water bottle away from the sensor to keep it from overflowing, hence, leaving the water bottle wet on the outside. We are creating a way for your hand to cover the sensor so you can remove your water bottle without wetting the outside in the process. On our device, we will use LEDs to signal whether the fountain would be outputting water or not— green for yes and red for no. The device will use Bluetooth to display how much water has been filled and whether or not water is currently being outputted on a separate device (i.e. a mobile phone or computer).
