The idea behind this project was to develop a platform where individuals could share their experiences and reviews related to the water quality in their vicinity. WaterRave is a social website that enables users to write and read reviews about the water quality in their area. Its objective is to promote awareness of the problem of inadequate water quality and encourage the government to take action. The project was constructed using React.js for frontend, Node.js, and Express.js for backend, and MongoDB for the database. The most significant obstacle we encountered was designing a simple and user-friendly interface that would be accessible to users of all ages and backgrounds. Additionally, we had to determine how to precisely calculate the average rating for each place.
We are pleased to have built a functional website that addresses a crucial social issue within a restricted time frame. We were able to design an appealing and simple interface and incorporate a feature that calculates the average rating for each location. During the development process, we acquired skills in creating responsive and attractive user interfaces using React.js. Additionally, we learned how to integrate databases and API calls into web applications.
In the future, we plan to enhance the website's capabilities by introducing new features such as a map view that shows the location of each reviewed place and a feature that enables users to report water quality issues directly to local authorities. We also intend to optimize the website's performance and make it more accessible to users with disabilities.
