Walking around in an unfamiliar area is not exactly the safest thing to do. You don't know what the street names are, it may be late at night, you might be alone just trying to get somewhere. This problem exists on college campuses and when visiting unfamiliar neighborhoods. For this we built WatchMe. At the click of a button on a Pebble watch, WatchMe will call a primary contact and tell them the intersection you are at, real time. So your primary contact will get a phonecall, answer it, and hear:
"Sara may be in immediate danger. Please call to check up on them, they are at the intersection of Main and Matthews in Urbana."
The call is placed with calls to the Interactive Intelligence API. The app uses location data in a mobile context to send live geolocation in an audio phonecall, using the GeoNames API. WatchMe solves a real user need by discreetly signaling for help in a dangerous situation, with the simplicity of one button click.
