I've always had a problem with the food going bad in my fridge; I have a rotting piece of celery in its bottom drawer right now. I wanted an app that can separate all of your grocery-related things, making it easy to determine what actually needs to be purchased and when food will expire. This app can read receipts in order to mark all of the user's groceries in the grocery inventory. Then, using the grocery inventory and the user's dietary preferences, the app will produce recipe meal ideas, focusing on the ones that are going to expire the soonest. A calendar provides a visual showing of when the groceries will expire, and the user can use the app to make a grocery list with necessary items as well. Due to my lack of proficiency in coding, I had decided to sketch the app and its functions instead of building it, but I hope I can study more about apps so I can implement this in the future. A challenge was actually trying to make the prototype and delving into the necessary factors that this app can have, so I really needed to look from the perspective of a grocery shopper. I'm just really proud of the idea itself; I think it's reliable and very logical, and I'd for sure use it if I had it. I learned that there are so many things that you need to consider just to make one product. Like I said, I hope to gain computer knowledge and use it to make WasteMeNot a real product that can help people as much as I want it to.
