Inspiration
Food waste is a serious problem. Offers like foodsharing.de try to tackle this challenge but are still inconvenient to use.
What it does
Wasteless combines nearby food sharing offers (so called baskets) and combines them with the food you have at home to suggest recipes, thus reducing food waste by making food sharing more convenient. Our recipe selection algorithm also encourages consuming soon-to-expire food, thus further reducing food waste.
How we built it
We built a beautiful React frontend with a powerful Express backend executing our extensive API pipeline.
Challenges we ran into
DevOps were challenging us especially in the beginning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
App looks good; we fulfilled our goals.
What we learned
Tobi: Collaboration is gold. Max: Setting up DevOps quickly is complicated. Nico: Believe in your ideas. Even if you're struggling. Hendrik: How not to serve React with Express.
What's next for wasteless
