  WASTED - the best sustainability app

Inspiration

Our main inspiration was the current plastic waste problem and the long term question of how can we reduce its comsuption in our lives.

What it does

A sustainability web app that allows the user to track plastic waste from the beaches and report them directly to our company, we recycle it, and then we send the waste to local brand sustainable stores so they can use them as materials for their products, which the user can also locate nearby.

How I built it

We built the web app using 3 main programming languages: nodejs, javascript and aws.

Challenges I ran into

In terms of the web app, the way to connect the user´ location to the plaform we used so users could report the presence of plastic waste.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

This is an innovative idea that we could see potentially growing in the future in order to maintain beaches clean and embrace environmental care.

What I learned

That technology´s importance relies or human connections to solve an important cause to make our world more sustainable.

What's next for WASTED

Next step could be to become an international web app or startup!
