InspiratioWhat Inspired You?
The growing challenges of waste management and its environmental impact inspired us to create a solution that connects MSMEs and RDF producers. We saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between waste generators and processors while promoting sustainable practices in the cement industry and beyond.
What You Learned Through this project, we gained insights into:
The critical role of calorific value in RDF production. The challenges MSMEs face in accessing quality waste materials. The importance of user-friendly interfaces for engagement in tech-enabled solutions. We also developed a deeper understanding of data-driven decision-making and sustainable operations. How You Built Your Project Planning: Conducted user research and interviews with stakeholders (MSMEs, RDF producers, cement companies). Design: Prototyped the platform using Figma, focusing on a clean and intuitive user interface. Development: Used Python for backend logic and data processing. Built the frontend with React, ensuring responsiveness and ease of use. Leveraged PostgreSQL for structured data storage and MongoDB for unstructured insights. Deployed the app on AWS for scalability and reliability. Integrated APIs for calorific value estimation and geospatial mapping. Testing: Conducted rigorous testing using tools like Postman for API reliability and simulated user interactions. Challenges You Faced Data Accuracy: Ensuring reliable calorific value estimates for diverse waste types. User Engagement: Designing a platform simple enough for MSMEs yet robust for RDF producers. Budget Constraints: Prioritizing free tools and APIs without compromising on functionality. Integration Issues: Aligning data from various sources into a cohesive and usable format. Scalability: Building a solution that scales seamlessly as the user base grows. Despite these challenges, our focus on iterative improvements and stakeholder feedback helped us build a platform that aligns with the needs of all stakeholders while promoting sustainability.
