💡 Inspiration

Improper waste management in schools and colleges leads to pollution and unhealthy environments. We wanted to create a system that not only manages waste efficiently but also motivates students to participate actively through rewards.

⚙️ What it does

Our system uses a proximity sensor to detect waste disposal. When a student scans their RFID card, the system calculates the value of the waste and assigns points to their card. These points can later be redeemed for snacks in the school canteen, encouraging responsible behavior.

🛠️ How we built it

We built the system using:

A proximity sensor to detect objects (waste) An RFID reader to identify users A microcontroller to process data A simple backend logic to assign and store points

All components work together to create a seamless reward-based waste management system.

⚔️ Challenges we ran into Accurately detecting and valuing different types of waste Integrating RFID with real-time point allocation Ensuring the system is fast and user-friendly Managing hardware connections and stability 🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of Successfully built a working prototype Created a reward-based system that encourages eco-friendly habits Combined hardware and real-world impact into one solution 📚 What we learned Basics of IoT and sensor integration Working with RFID systems Importance of user motivation in solving real-world problems Team collaboration and problem-solving 🔮 What's next for Waste To Taste Improve waste classification using AI Develop a mobile app to track points Expand to larger campuses and public areas Partner with canteens and vendors for better rewards
