Food waste is a huge problem—restaurants, homes, and markets throw away tons of edible food daily. At the same time, many people struggle with food insecurity. This contrast inspired us to find a solution that converts waste into value.

⚙️ What It Does

Waste to Taste focuses on:

Collecting surplus and unused food materials Repurposing them into safe, healthy, and tasty meals Educating people on minimizing food waste Promoting sustainable eating habits 🛠️ How We Built It Researched food waste sources (homes, hotels, markets) Identified reusable ingredients (vegetable peels, leftovers, etc.) Created simple recipes using these materials Designed awareness campaigns (posters/presentations) Planned a system for collection and redistribution ⚠️ Challenges We Ran Into Ensuring food safety and hygiene Changing people’s mindset about “waste food” Storage and transportation issues Identifying what is reusable vs non-reusable 🏆 Accomplishments That We’re Proud Of Successfully created recipes from food waste Spread awareness among peers/community Reduced a measurable amount of food waste (if applicable, add data) Built a sustainable and scalable idea 📚 What We Learned The importance of sustainability and resource management Creativity in cooking and problem-solving Teamwork and planning skills Awareness of global food waste issues 🔮 What’s Next Develop a mobile app for food donation tracking Partner with restaurants and NGOs Expand awareness campaigns Scale the project to larger communities
