Inspiration
Trash segregation is one of the major problems faced Accumulation of solid waste is a major menace, resulting in environmental hazards if not managed properly. It becomes extremely crucial to manage the different varieties of waste through an advanced waste management system.
What it does
The trash sequester takes in an image of waste material as input and classifies it into Organic/Recyclable.
How we built it
I used a multi-layer convolutional neural network model to extract the images and classify them into different categories.
Challenges we ran into
Tuning the model and deciding what hyperparameter would work best for the model. Secondly, I have never really worked with the frontend before, and building a full-stack application was a major challenge for me.
What's next for Trash Sequester
Building this application was an enriching experience and I'd like to work on it further to make the predictions more accurate, classify waste into several more fine-tuned categories.
