Inspiration
We wanted to solve our own problem of forgetting to eat perishable food before it expires.
What it does
Waste Not allows you to scan your groceries receipt to keep track of your food. It checks average expiration times and notifies you before your food expires!
How we built it
We used JavaScript and Sketch!
Challenges we ran into
- Consensus on an idea. It was our first time working together.
- Working with Cordova and Ionic before scrapping them for plain Html & JS.
- Actually scanning the receipt.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting OCR to work on file uploads instead of relying on static images.
What we learned
Erik learned how to make a mobile friendly website. Hugh learned how to do OCR in JavaScript.
