Inspiration
We all are taking the Game Development class at Bronx Science this year. We learned a lot of skills and techniques that we want to apply to this Hackathon. Once we learned about the theme, we want to focus on a topic that isn't as widely discussed right now due to the current circumstances. We want this game to serve as a reminder of how we must maintain the environment and work together with every little step to achieve our goal. This isn't a choice, it's our duty.
What it does
This game teaches people about which items are recyclable and which are trash. It also teaches people about the effects of pollution on the environment and the animals that live in it through a fun and interactive game.
How we built it
The team designed and built Waste Exile on the Unity platform. We used packages from the Unity Asset Store
Challenges we ran into
A challenge we faced when making Waste Exile was an issue with the spawning of the items. We sought help from the mentors and managed to sort out the problem by using an alternative technique.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of completing our game within the time limit and the user interface. We are also proud of how we made the game more realistic through lighting changes during the game and sound effects.
What we learned
We learned more features of Unity and how to create effects such as lighting. We also learned more about the effects of pollution through research of the facts included in our game.
What's next for Waste Exile
Adding more maps to the game and adding a multiplayer feature.
