Inspiration
We wanted to bring concern to the fish and birds in our community. We didn't want to help ourselves, we wanted to help spread awareness to other people too.
What it does
Our app allows you to learn about fish and birds in our community and share images of your finds to the website. It also comes with a built in identifier to identify birds and fish in your community.
How we built it
We used a combination of HTML, Python, and some Javascript to construct a website. We also utilized YOLO (a recognition AI) to build our identifier system. We used Streamlit in python to construct the bulk of the information on the website.
Challenges we ran into
Getting YOLO to work was very complicated, and we had trouble using Streamlit to list the fish and birds.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our extensive list of native fish and birds, complete with large amounts of information.
What we learned
We learned a lot about building websites through code, and also specifically more about native ecosystems.
