How we built it

Wash@UCI leverages cutting-edge technology to ensure a seamless laundry experience for UC Irvine students. Powered by a robust Node.js backend hosted on Amazon Web Services through serverless Lambda functions, our system guarantees scalability without breaking the bank. Thanks to AWS, the server and backend scale infinitely, ensuring optimal performance during peak times, and cost-effectiveness since it only runs when in use.

On the frontend, Wash@UCI delivers a sleek and intuitive interface using React.js and Material UI. This combination not only ensures a user-friendly experience but also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal. Challenges we ran into

The development journey of Wash@UCI brought forth unique challenges. Crafting a database structure that seamlessly aligns with the user interface required careful consideration to ensure optimal compatibility. Overcoming this challenge involved iterative design processes to find the perfect balance between data efficiency and user experience.

Establishing smooth communication between the frontend and backend posed another hurdle, demanding innovative solutions to ensure real-time updates and accurate information flow.

Moreover, incorporating Modals into our design presented an additional challenge. Striking the right balance between functionality and aesthetics was crucial for a cohesive user experience.

Creating custom SVG files for icons added a layer of complexity, requiring our team to delve into graphic design to ensure a personalized touch that aligns with Wash@UCI's unique identity.
