Warranty Proof Finder

Inspiration

When an appliance breaks, the hard part is not calling for repair. It is proving you are still covered. At home, receipts end up as phone photos in the album, warranty cards end up as scanned PDFs in some folder, and nobody remembers which year anything was bought. NAS reviews also point out that AI answers rarely show whether they came from your own files. I wanted a Skill that answers the warranty question and shows its evidence.

What it does

Ask "Is my washing machine still under warranty?" Warranty Proof Finder searches the photo library and the folders you approve, finds the receipt and warranty card, extracts the purchase date and warranty length, and replies in three parts:

• Conclusion: in warranty, out of warranty, or cannot be determined
• Evidence: each fact with its source file path, marked "verified" (two files agree) or "single source"
• Uncertainty and search scope: where it looked, what it could not read, and what is still missing

If you want, it saves a proof list back to the NAS.

How I built it

The Skill is a single SKILL.md built with the UGOS Skill Creation Tool. It delegates to four registered experts: file-agent for scope and file search, photo-agent for text search inside photos, document-agent for extraction, and knowledge-agent for saving the proof list. Every step is read-only except saving, which needs approval, and each step only uses real results from the previous one. It passes the kit's static check with zero errors and warnings.

Challenges

Defining honest behaviour when nothing is found, handling five delegation states, and keeping dates traceable to the original text.

What's next

Testing Chinese receipts and ROC-calendar dates on a real UGREEN AI NAS, and extending the same flow to rental deposit disputes.
