Inspiration

The inspiration behind Warete comes from the complexity and fragmentation of managing assets across different blockchains. As Web3 continues to grow, users are often forced to juggle multiple wallets, private keys, and interfaces, which can be overwhelming, especially for newcomers. We wanted to simplify this experience by creating a unified account platform that seamlessly integrates assets from various blockchains using a single NEAR account., making Web3 accessible to everyone.

What it does

Warete is a unified Web3 account that allows users to manage all their on-chain assets in one place. With Warete, users can log in with social accounts like Google, Twitter, Facebook, or GitHub, simplifying access and removing the need for complex private key management. Once logged in, Warete creates a NEAR-based account for each user, which serves as a gateway to Ethereum, Bitcoin, and other blockchain assets. Through Warete, users can view their balances, make deposits, and transfer assets across supported testnets, all in a single, user-friendly interface.

How we built it

We built Warete using NEAR Protocol as the foundational layer for unified account management, leveraging its Chain Signature feature to sign transactions and generate derived addresses for Ethereum and Bitcoin. The frontend is built with Nextjs and MUI to create an intuitive and seamless user experience. We implemented social login functionality using Web3Auth to allow users to access their accounts through familiar platforms like Google and Twitter. Warete currently integrates with multiple blockchain testnets, including Sepolia, Base Sepolia, Optimism Sepolia, Polygon Mumbai, and NEAR testnet, ensuring cross-chain compatibility.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was integrating social logins securely and efficiently without compromising the decentralized nature of the platform was a complex task. We also faced technical hurdles with ensuring real-time updates for asset balances across multiple testnets.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have created a truly unified, user-friendly Web3 account system that breaks down traditional barriers in the blockchain space. We successfully implemented seamless social login options and built an intuitive interface that simplifies asset management across multiple blockchains. Our use of NEAR’s Chain Signature to sign transactions and derive addresses for Ethereum and Bitcoin is a unique accomplishment that enhances the interoperability of Warete.

What we learned

We learned how to effectively balance the technical requirements of decentralized networks with the usability expectations of mainstream users. We also deepened our understanding of NEAR Protocol’s capabilities, especially regarding secure and scalable account management.

What's next for Warete

Next, we plan to expand Warete’s support to more mainnets and popular blockchains, making it a go-to platform for managing all Web3 assets. We aim to add more features, such as cross-chain swaps, portfolio tracking, meta transactions, and enhanced security options like multi-factor authentication. Additionally, we’re exploring partnerships with other Web3 projects to create a broader ecosystem that further enhances the utility and accessibility of Warete.
