Inspiration

We noticed that small warehouse operators often struggle with manual data entry which is prone to human error. We wanted to leverage the advanced reasoning capabilities of Alexa+ to turn a voice interface into a powerful inventory assistant that can handle complex stock queries.

What it does

WarehouseWise allows users to perform comprehensive inventory counting by simply speaking to their Alexa device. The system processes natural language requests to identify items, verify quantity counts, and update a central database in real-time.

How we built it

We used Python to develop the backend logic, hosting it on AWS Lambda for scalable serverless execution. We integrated Langgraph to manage the multi-step logic of inventory workflows while Amazon Bedrock provided the generative AI capabilities needed to interpret complex user intent.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was managing the state of long-running inventory sessions across multiple voice interactions. We also had to ensure that the latency between Alexa+ and Amazon Bedrock remained low enough to maintain a seamless conversational experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how effectively the Langgraph logic handles ambiguous voice commands regarding stock levels. Seeing Alexa+ manage a professional-grade logistics task with such fluidity was a significant milestone for our team.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to orchestrate agentic workflows using Langgraph within a Lambda environment. We also gained insights into optimizing prompts for Amazon Bedrock to ensure high accuracy in inventory data extraction.

What's next for WarehouseWise

We plan to integrate computer vision capabilities to automatically count items while Alexa+ summarizes the reports. We also hope to expand the system to support multiple languages for global supply chain management.
