Inspiration
The inspiration behind Wardrobe Wizard came from our frustration with the traditional online shopping experience, where the uncertainty of fit often leads to disappointment and returns. We wanted to empower users to confidently shop online by providing a solution that eliminates the guesswork and ensures a perfect fit every time. We also recognized the environmental impact caused by the common occurrence of online purchases not fitting properly, leading to reduced clothing usage or returns. This cycle of inefficiency contributes to waste and undermines sustainability efforts in the fashion industry. We acknowledge that it is important to stay mindful of our impact in this world, so we are taking a stand and hope that you will rise with us.
What it does
Through our platform, users can directly input their precise body measurements, allowing our AI technology to create a personalized digital model of their physique. This model serves as the foundation for a virtual fitting room experience, where users can browse through a curated selection of clothing items from various retailers. Our platform dynamically adjusts the clothing item to accurately reflect how it would fit, considering factors such as fabric stretch, garment cut, and body proportions. Additionally, we have a physical version of this model available for people to operate in their own settings, where our mirror magically visualizes the clothes on your body with its immersive virtual fitting room!
How we built it
We built the project using HTML and CSS for front-end development, ensuring a visually appealing and responsive user interface. Additionally, we incorporated AI imaging technology to enhance features such as virtual try-on and personalized recommendations. We also utilized AI imaging technology to enhance the design and theme of our site.
Challenges we ran into
As we are all new to the realm of coding and integration of website frontend vs backend, we ran into quite a few problems, from struggles attempting to embed audio and visual imagery, as well as the construction of the virtual wardrobe rotation machine itself. How we combatted it: We overcame these issues by breaking down our errors and doing research on how to address them. While we were not able to solve all of the issues, most of them were solved.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We designed a user-friendly interface that makes it easy for customers to input their measurements, try on clothes, and navigate the website seamlessly. We were able to input images, icons, and text through the use of HTML and CSS. Most of us being first timers, we are proud of building a project that aligns with our personal passions: sustainability and social good (and shopping! 🙂)
What we learned
We learned more about the specifics of HTML and CSS, especially how to tailor it to the needs of our webpage. We learned the importance of adaptability and willingness to change for a better user experience, as well as how important tedious trial and error is when working with code.
What's next for Wardrobe Wizard
In our next phase, Wardrobe Wizard aims to partner with major online shopping platforms to integrate our virtual fitting room technology directly into their ecosystems, thereby streamlining the shopping experience and significantly reducing clothing waste. By collaborating with these industry leaders, we can scale our impact and empower consumers to make informed purchasing decisions based on accurate sizing recommendations and virtual try-on experiences. Through strategic alliances, we'll not only enhance the online shopping journey but also promote sustainability by minimizing the environmental footprint associated with ill-fitting purchases.
