Inspiration

We were inspired by the concern that Indonesia's rich cultural heritage might fade away. We wanted to use modern technology to make culture relevant, interactive, and easily accessible to the younger generation.

What It Does

Wardi is an integrated digital platform for Indonesian culture with four main functions:

AI Analysis: Identifies cultural objects (batik, weapons, etc.) from user-uploaded photos.

Translator: Translates various regional languages across Indonesia.

Tourist Places: Provides information and a rating system for cultural sites.

Community Forum: Serves as a space for discussion and sharing knowledge about culture.

How We Built It

The platform was built using:

Backend: Django (Python) for logic, database management, and APIs.

Frontend: Standard HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to ensure it's lightweight and responsive.

AI & Coding Assistance: Google Gemini for the image analysis API, along with GitHub Copilot and Deepseek to assist in the coding process.

Challenges We Ran Into

Our biggest challenges were:

AI Accuracy: Training the AI to recognize thousands of highly diverse cultural artifacts.

Feature Integration: Combining many features (AI, forum, ratings) into a single, user-friendly interface.

Data Integrity: Ensuring the information displayed is accurate and respectful of each culture.

Accomplishments We're Proud Of

We are proud to have successfully created a functional platform that merges advanced technology with a cultural preservation mission. Our main accomplishment is turning this complex idea into a real, usable application.

What We Learned

Through this project, we learned a great deal about:

Technical Skills: Full-stack development with Django, API integration, and database management.

Non-Technical Skills: The importance of in-depth cultural research and how to present sensitive information appropriately.

What's Next for Wardi

Our future plans include:

Mobile App & AR: Creating a mobile application with an Augmented Reality (AR) feature for a more interactive experience.

Expanding the Database: Adding more cultural categories and regional languages.

Collaboration: Working with museums, local communities, and cultural institutions to enrich our content.
