War Times NFT is built on the XRP Block Chain as part of the Ethereum fork. This is a collect of images from firsthand experience from war zones that many don't have any idea happened.
Inspiration for this project is teaching my kids about blockchain and trying to learn and understand it more myself. It also pairs the popular Non-fungible Tokens (NFT's) market with years of pictures from war and events that will be forgotten about if people have their choice.
This attempts to mint a token with the intent mint an image from personal collection that will allow anyone to own a look into Iraq and Afghanistan between the years of 2003 and 2019. There might be some put in that are from other various areas of life such as Italy, Amsterdam, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Romania, and Czech Republic.
Built with the Python library and utilizing the XRP Test network and a locally stored Rippled Server ran through Hyper-V.
Challenges we ran into are keeping the node running and actually verifying the wallets. Following the docs, I ran into issues minting the tokens and verifying the wallet addresses and ensuring the funds are visible in the wallet. While looking on bithomp (https://bithomp.com/), I could verify the transaction on the block chain but I was having issues with inputting specific wallets in the code and getting it to work.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of is that I was able to mint a random token and an NFT.
What I have learned is that programming for the Blockchain and NFT is not as easy as many will try to make it seem. This is a dedicated learning process and can understand why so many can appreciate the blockchain and its auditability.
What's next for War Times NFT? Next is to keep working on the XRP Network and try to get these images launched with a purpose. I don't just want to create another coin, just to create a coin. I want it to be impactful.
