Inspiration
We were inspired by the Vietnam War, a very eventful time in history. We also thought it would be fun to dress up an avatar.
What it does
Our app gives soldiers in the Vietnam War various options on what armor and gun to bring into battle, and it would show up on their virtual avatar.
How we built it
First, we started with an outline of just creating a scroll view for our different tiles(armor and guns). Then, we added an avatar and put the images from the tiles on specific coordinates on the avatar. Finally, we made everything look much nicer and cleaner, and also made the code a little easier to read.
Challenges we ran into
One problem that was very challenging to solve was trying to clean up our code. There were all sorts of problems that were very hard to debug because of how hard it was to read. Therefore, we decided to put all the information about
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are quite happy that we figured out how to make our images have no background. We needed to crop the background of the images using an app called GIMP.
What we learned
We learned various concepts from both JSX and javascript. This includes things like creating and styling different kinds of buttons and views.
What's next for War Avatar Simulator
Next, we could display the fight instead of just computing if the war is won or lost.
