TLDR
A web app that walks the user through starting a business, then helps them maintain financial wellbeing by tracking different metrics over time, all while educating the user on finance terms.
Understanding of Financial Wellbeing
I understand financial wellbeing to be how well someone is managing their money, how secure their financial situation is, and how much room there is for financial growth. For me personally, financial wellbeing would mean not living from paycheck to paycheck, not drowning in loans, and having some money saved up instead. While I could have easily addressed the college/Gen Z dilemma of being broke, I wanted to think further and brighter. Coming from my own entrepreneurial spirit, I wanted to use this project to inspire others to start their own business and in doing so, improve their financial wellbeing. This not only helps the business owner, but also the local economy. Having more small businesses means more growth and more importantly right now, more job opportunities. Small businesses are a great way to help the financial wellbeing of multiple people at a larger scale by starting at the source.
Relevance to BlackRock's goals
I am mostly addressing BlackRock's 4th goal of inclusive economies because, as mentioned above, having more small businesses will improve local economies through growth and employment opportunities. Moreover, it is inclusive because anyone, even me or you, can start a business. small plug: i'm also starting my own business!
Functionality of the product
My app was created using React.js and Firebase and starts by motivating the user to start their own business. From there, the user is walked through starting a business through a series of questions around planning and logistics and such. Then there's a daily form that the user fills out about the daily operations of the business, and these answers are stored in the Firestore database. Those numbers are used to calculate different metrics such as revenue, expenditure, net profit, and return on investment. All relevant terms are defined in accessible language.
Creativity of the solution
I'm predicting that most other submissions are either geared towards our college demographic, or is about stocks and those kinds of investments. If that is the case, then this app is indeed creative. Even if it isn't, I'm super duper proud of what I singlehandedly accomplished in a total of 7 hours and 27 minutes.

User-friendly design
I created a light mode and a dark mode, for both aesthetics and accessibility. I also did my best to make the interface intuitive and easy to use.
Use of data
I couldn't find a relevant way to incorporate open datasets into my project, but I am using users' data to calculate metrics over time. It's still data, right?
