Inspiration
There are a lot of events that happen around us that we don't know about. The quarantine due to the COVID pandemic has also pushed people far apart.
What it does
The app collects events like parties, music shows, etc.. that happen around the user. And it takes the user to the event's website. This encourages social gatherings and communication between people in general. This helps remove loneliness among people.
How we built it
We built a basic app and integrated firebase with it.
Challenges we ran into
The storage and retrieval of data in firebase were tricky to figure out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is the first-ever app that I have made. The app properly communicating with the Firebase Realtime Database was a great accomplishment.
What we learned
I learnt how to integrate Firebase into Android Apps. This is my first app. So the design and structure of code may not be up to the level. But I learnt a lot by building this app.
What's next for Wander
Plans for the app are:
- Adding photos of the event(Integration of Firebase Storage) 2.Events filtering by category, location, etc... 3.Users can have friends with whom they can share personal events
