What does Wander do?

At Wander, we believe that everyone should have easy access to the incredible experiences their local community has to offer. That's why we make an effort to empower our community who altogether will curate a diverse selection of niche activities, from horseback riding to petting zoos and mushroom foraging just for you! No more hunting through individual websites, just a single click away from your next adventure.

What's Wander's Inspiration?

Before Wander, the task of discovering and pursuing niche activities involved hours of searching. However, now with Wander, you can browse a vast selection of activities hosted by your local community and its experts. No more asking what you and your friend should do this weekend. Just download Wander and wander!

How did we build Wander?

We built this web app mainly using React and Firebase, and mapped a more extensive prototype design using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

While implementing our Firebase Realtime database, we ran into many technical issues. For instance, data collection and reservations were not being pushed properly to our database. However, we managed to figure it out in the end!

What we learned

Through this experience, we learned many important lessons about UI design and how to intuitively format our designs. Furthermore, we gained experience in making a product that is not only functional but practical.

What's next for Wander?

Currently, our data on local activities is hard-coded, although the examples of local activities given are actual activities in our area! In the future, we hope to introduce our project to real vendors and add them to our website! Lastly, to further increase the accessibility of our web app, we want to implement payment systems so that Wander becomes the one-stop shop for not only booking but also paying!
