Inspiration
Our team loves dark-mode, and by association, our Google Chrome extension that makes it pleasurable to browse the web. With AI becoming more prominent in Chrome extensions, we questioned how to bring the same comfortability to the e-commerce experience!
What it does
WalletWatch is a Chrome extension—your digital mommy protecting your money from impulsive spending habits. When browsing products on Amazon, WalletWatch analyzes the current product page, instantly providing insights into your budget status, historical spending, and personalized recommendations on whether the purchase aligns with your financial goals. It helps you pause before clicking "Buy," making sure each purchase is financially responsible.
How we built it
WalletWatch was developed using React to create a responsive and intuitive user interface, ensuring smooth user interaction and efficient state management. The backend was built with Node.js, allowing us to handle secure API requests. We integrated the Capital One API to securely retrieve real-time financial data, enhancing the accuracy and automation of expense tracking. Additionally, the GPT API was utilized to generate personalized financial insights, budgeting advice, and helpful spending tips, providing users with intelligent recommendations tailored to their financial habits. Interactive visualizations were created using Chart.js to offer clear and engaging insights into users' spending patterns.
