Inspiration
We all spend too much money on Starbucks, except for Arri, whose guilty pleasure is a secret that he won't tell us.
What it does
Have you ever shopped at a disorganized grocery store where prices tags are all over the place? Or gone into a cafe that doesn't list its prices on the menu? cough Starbucks cough
Wallai is a personal finance software that helps you control your spending in spite of these barriers! You simply take a picture of a food item, and it'll figure out its price for you. If the software isn't able to figure out the price, it'll prompt you to add the item and its price (once you've figured it out) to our database to improve the experience for future users. As an Android app, it's convenient for everyday use, and its clear, lightweight interface provides an unusually hassle-free way to stay in control of your finances.

How we built it
Teamwork makes the dream work.
Challenges we ran into
Coming up with the idea, it was so challenging it took us 12 hours. Also the fact that we came up with the idea 12 hours into the hackathon. And Android errors, all of them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We came up with an idea during the hackathon! We're also proud of Arri not sleeping.
What we learned
Android is a b*itch.
What's next for wallai
We want to partner with restaurants to get better data that'll make our object identification more accurate. Once we do this, we would also like to further optimize how we store and retrieve information from the database as it grows.
We'd also like to create an iOS version to make the app available to more people!
